About Templates

Templates are the framework for forms. Using the Templates home page, you can create a new template or select an existing template to edit. When you publish a completed template, it becomes available for form filling. To fill out a form, click Fill Out a Form in the Forms area. Forms help.

How to navigate the Templates area

The Templates area displays a list of recent templates in Draft status by default. This area contains templates in Draft status and Published status. Published templates are available as forms in the Forms area ready to be filled out.

Find templates

Choose the status of the templates you are searching for by choosing one of the template tabs.

Templates can also be found through the search, sort, and filter functions.

Create new template

  1. Click Create New Template in the Templates area.
  2. Use the Template Editor to create your template.

Edit templates

  • Click the template you want to edit under the Drafts or Published status tabs.

Note: If you edit a published template and save it as a draft, the published version remains available in the forms area. Your changes take effect only after you re-publish the template.

Keyboard shortcuts for the template editor

To use the following keyboard shortcuts, highlight one or more components on your canvas:

Note: Mac users will use the Command (or Cmd) ⌘ key in place of CTRL.

Highlight all CTRL + A
  • When you have multiple components you want to apply the same style to, use this keyboard shortcut to highlight the components and then apply the formatting using the Template Toolbar.
  • This will not work if you have selected a Heading, Subheading, Text Box, or Paragraph component) in combination with another type of component as the Static Text components cannot be formatted using the Template Toolbar.
Unhighlight CTRL + Click.
  • The unlighlight keyboard shortcut is useful when you have all components highlighted and want to unhighlight one component while keeping the rest highlighted
Display Diagnostics Info on Template Editor CTRL + ALT + /
  • The diagnostics information displayed is the ComponentID and ComponentMasterID for each component on a template. Use this information when speaking with support. Use the command again to hide this information.
Move Multiple Components at Once
  • Use the arrow keys to move the selected components.
  • Click and drag the components with your mouse.
