Auto Populate

Use the Auto Populate component to display read-only data in the component from a data source or meta data. Auto Populate is a data-bound component. For more on databinding and associated components see About data-binding and auto-populating.

Note: If you make changes to a data-bound component (deleting, modifying, etc.), that other data-bound components depend on, a warning message will appear asking you if you want to continue. If you continue, the databinding and filtering configuration on the dependent data-bound components will be cleared.

  1. Hover over the Auto Populate component on the canvas and click PropertiesProperties.

  2. Edit the following Auto Populate properties:

    • Unique Name – This is the system name used to refer to this component’s value in formulas and reports. It will not be visible in the form.
    • Label Text – This text appears next to your component.
    • Data Bound: Click Edit and edit the following:
      • Select Component – This dropdown will show all data-bound dropdowns currently on your canvas and are shown by their Label Text and Unique Name.

        • Note that if a data-bound sub-group has been defined in the Template Properties, you can also select the sub-group and then auto populate data based on that selection.

      • Field – Information that is available to auto populate your field with.
    • Meta Data – Choose this option and select a meta data type from the menu. Inform supports the following Meta Data types:
      • Created On – Date and time the form was created.
      • Business Unit – Business Unit that the form filler belongs to.
      • Form ID – The form's unique ID.
      • Form Name – The form's name.
      • Group – The Group that the form is tagged with, if applicable.
      • Modified On – Date and time the form was last modified.
      • Page Number – Current page of the form out of the total number of pages the form has (for example, 1 of 4).
      • Sub-Group – The Sub-Group that the form is tagged with, if applicable.
      • Template Category – The Template Category the form is assigned to.
      • Template ID – The unique ID of the form’s Template.
      • Template Name – The name of the Template the form is based on.
      • User Email – The form filler's email address.
      • User ID – The form filler's unique ID.
      • User Name – The form filler's username.
  3. Click Save. Your component will now display where the data is coming from: name of the data source, the component, and the information that will show within the auto populate component.
    • Example: B2W Ops, Jobs1, Job ID.
